I stand corrected
It's not that I'm not grateful for that opportunity, because I really am. (Thanks a million, Teri!) It's just that when thinking about my writing and my career goals, I always think of book writing. I didn't even include in that accomplishment that I also had two short stories published in confessions mags this year. These two things are nice supplements, but not my major goal.
However, if you'd like to take a look at what I've written this year nonfiction-wise, you can see it here.
Well, I have a lot of things going this month, and I feel very ill-prepared for it. First of all, I'm going to be doing booksignings in the Seattle area with my friends Gerri Russell (American Title III winner!) and Pat White. Gerri has been super with-it in organizing all this, and I'm grateful to go along for the ride. But it's going to be busy. Here's my schedule. I'd love it if some of you could make it to see us!
Anyway, I feel unprepared not because I'm really nervous or anything, but because I already work at least some part of 6 days out of every week. I'm reorganizing the days, but it will still end up being 6 days of work and 1 day of booksignings 4 out of the next 5 weeks. I'm a bit overwhelmed at how organized I'm going to have to be to help my family do without me so much. And that's not even mentioning getting any writing done. Or the fact that work is swamped and though my arthritic little fingers have been taking a beating, I feel the need to help out as much as I can. I just have to remember to leave something for me. Some bits of time to replenish and renew and accomplish my goals.
Oh, I did go sign some stock in 2 bookstores today! That was fun! Waldenbooks even changed my placement from spine out in the trade sized romance section to right up front on the New Releases wall! Too bad there were only two copies there. :-)
Well, off to take care of the next annoying, but must be done item on my to-do list, take care of the leaking hot water heater. WaterGuy just got home and ought to be just thrilled to have to deal with that after an entire day working in the pouring rain....more water. Yay!
Later!
Shannon

I would love to come see you, but I'm afraid I would have an anxiety attack about the drive up there!

Good luck on getting and keeping organized - I have problems with that with an open schedule! LOL
Happy new year to you Shannon. Here's hoping 2007 is another great year.
